DP Series and ICF Ocean Racing selection update

Due to the disruption of Covid 19 in the latter half of 2021, there have been some necessary changes to the 2021/22 Darcy Price Ocean Racing series schedule, and therefore the ICF Ocean Racing World Championship selection policy.

Rescheduled events:

2022 Heads to Harbour – new date, Saturday 30th April, Whakatane

2021 Auckland King and Queen of the Harbour– new date, Saturday 7th May, Auckland

The Darcy Price NZ Ocean Surfski Series is the national ocean racing series comprising of the premier surfski races around Aotearoa.

The series is made up of 7 events each summer, one of which will also double as the NZ Ocean Racing National Championships. A paddler’s best 4 races will count towards the series results.

The August Level 4 lockdown meant the first event, the Poor Knights Crossing up in Tutukaka was cancelled, and the Auckland King and Queen of the Harbour postponed. However the Windy City Downwind in Wellington went ahead as did the Paddler Virtual Race, James “Bhutty” Moore-Morial Race and Nelson’s Queen and King of the Bay (2022 National Championships), albeit with restrictions.

The series results after these 4 events can be found here. https://www.resulthq.com/series/

An updated selection policy can be found here, for anyone interested in attending the 2022 ICF Ocean Racing World Championships in Portugal in October.
