Maree Kaati appointed as Performance Program Manager

We are delighted to announce Maree Kaati’s appointment to the new Performance Program Manager role at Canoe Racing New Zealand.

Maree will support newly appointed General Manager of Performance, Nathan Luce, running the operations and logistics for the CRNZ Performance Program (including the Performance Pathway), and help our team implement the new CRNZ Picture of Performance and Holistic Performance Framework. She will be based at the CRNZ High Performance Centre in Karapiro.

Of Tainui and Maniapoto whakapapa, Maree comes to CRNZ from Triathlon NZ, where she has spent eight years as Operations Manager. As such, she brings significant relevant experience to her new position. Maree is also a former elite rower, having spent 11 years rowing as a junior, U23 and Elite NZ representative.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the CRNZ waka and becoming part of the team and it will be great to be back at Lake Karapiro. I look forward helping Tom, Nathan and the HP team to implement the programme’s new initiatives along with meeting athletes, coaches, supporters and the wider paddling community.”

CEO Tom Ashley said “We are stoked that Maree has accepted this position. She will add a valuable skillset to our organisation, and I’m confident that she will be a great fit with our team of athletes and staff. The relationships she has already developed with stakeholders such as HPSNZ and the NZOC will allow her to hit the ground running.”

Nathan Luce, GM Performance, welcomes Maree’s appointment. “We were fortunate to be able to recruit someone of Maree’s vast experience and expertise into our world leading High Performance programs. Maree will only enhance the incredible team of support staff that surrounds our athletes as we lead into Paris 2024.”
