Another incredible day in Auronzo for the Junior & U23 World Champs with the Kiwi team showing their class across finals and the last of the heats.
Natasha MacGibbon had a busy day of back to back A finals, racing the K2 Junior Women 500m A Final with crew mate Greer Morley where they placed 6th. Followed just over an hour later with her K1 Junior Women 1000m A Final, finishing in an impressive 5th place.
Emma Kemp looked determined in her K1 U23 Women 1000m B final, she made a strong push in the last 500m to climb from 3rd to finish in 2nd place.
The K2 Junior Men 500m crew raced the C final and in an exciting photo finish claimed 3rd place just behind France.
Julia Padrutt and Lucy Matehaere, our K2 U23 Women 500m pair raced a competitive A Final, securing 7th place against a strong European field.
Grant Clancy was all class coming 2nd in his K1 U23 Men 1000m B final.
Lucy Matehaere came 5th in her K1 U23 women 500m semi final to qualify for the B Final where she took out first place . An impressive showing of her talent.
Thomas MacGibbon held off Swedish paddler Dennis Kernen by +0.08 seconds to win his semi final, booking him a spot in the A Final which will be raced tonight at 7.37pm NZT.
In the K1 Junior Women 500m semi final Greer Morley claimed 5th to go on to an admirable 2nd place finish in the B Final.
