The South Island’s longest running surfski race.

This event weekend in the beautiful Tasman region of the upper South Island includes 2 races to make for an awesome weekend of paddling. Renown for being a low key and fun event, it has attracts some of the countries most elite paddlers but also caters for everyone who loves ocean paddling and wishes to enjoy the event course with other paddlers.

Saturday 17th February- Queen and King of the Bay
Kaiteriteri Beach to Port Māpua  (or reverse) – 26km
A superb 26km paddle along the coastline in Tasman Bay, past Motueka, Kina and Ruby Bay. The Queen and King of the Bay race is the 6th event in the 2023/24 Darcy Prize NZ Ocean surfski series

Sunday 18th February- Abel Tasman Islands
Kaiteriteri Beach – Split Apple Rock – Adele Island – Kaiteriteri Beach – 18km
Starting and finishing at Kaiteriteri beach, this loop course takes paddlers into the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park.

NB: Race organisers may switch race days if the weather demands it.
