New Zealand Virtual Paddling Championships

Date

Mar 01 - Mar 31

Following on from the success of last year’s New Zealand Virtual Surfski Championships, Canoe Racing NZ is set to launch the New Zealand Virtual Paddling Championships next month.

The exciting new event will be open to all paddle craft (kayak, surf ski, waka ama, SUP etc) as all entrants try to complete the 12km distance (3km for U18 paddlers) as quickly as possible.

Times can be recorded for the championships between the dates of March 1-31. Paddlers can enter as many times as they wish and spot prizes will also be on offer.

For surf ski paddlers, the event has the additional carrot of forming the penultimate round of the 2020-21 Darcy Price Series.

Competitors must start and finish at the same point to minimise the effect of the wind, current etc.

The competition is free to enter, but please no pausing of the watch/phone during the 12km paddle.

Participants can post as many times as they like across the month of March but only the best time will count.

The competition will be run via the paddler.nz website,  which will go live at 9am (NZT) on Monday March 1.

Entry is made via on online submission form on the paddler.nz website in which an image of your route tracking, plus distance and time must be made.
