Andrew Martin River Race Weekend is coming up at the beautiful Rangitikei River on 11th and 12th November to celebrate the life of Andrew Martin, who passed away in September 2020.

Andrew was a world champion kayaker, world class kayak and paddle manufacturer, a world class athlete and father to Hannah and Lucy.
A weekend of racing is the perfect way to remember Andrew, improve your skills and have fun on the river!
On the weekend of the 11th and 12th of November, a gathering of paddlers to reflect on the past and to test the present- if fitness or ability to stay upright, breath and compete or not. Others come for the social component of a weekend away by the beautiful Rangitikei River at Awastone -Riverside Haven.
The event is located at Awastone, River side Haven, on the eastern side of the Rangitikei river with plenty of camping, accommodation and great home-made food from the restaurant. Book your accommodation- Awastone -Riverside Haven.

Event Schedule

Saturday, 10am – Classic Race From Awastone River Haven -including the sprint course down to Mangarere Road get out. This will be for those who are comfortable on this section of the river and not needing safety.

Saturday, 11am – Shadow Class Race – Same course as above but if you think you need assistance to get down the course you will have an expert to support you on the course as safety.
Saturday, 3pm- Rapid Sprints × 2 on the Awastone Home Rapid.
Sunday 11am – AGM for Wild water Canoe Racing.
