The 2024 NZCT Canoe Sprint National Championships concluded the summer sprint season in spectacular fashion with close to 300 paddlers battling it out on the water for national titles and personal glory across all divisions.
This summer’s biggest sprint event showcased the next generation of paddlers. The door was open for many new national champions in the open and U23 categories, with most of the elite NZ men and women limiting the amount of events they competed in as they prepare to depart NZ for their international season.
With paddlers from 10years old and all the way through to 77years, the largest age group was the 14&U category, highlighting the great work being done by kayak clubs to attract and retain new young paddlers.
It was also great to see new events and craft, as well as the growth in the Para Canoe events.

And a massive ngā mihi to all the clubs, coaches, organisers, volunteers and officials who put so much effort and energy into our sport to make events like this so special.
