Event Introduction

Event Name:New Zealand Kayak Marathon Champs 2021
Event Date:Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April 2021.
Event Start Time:9:00am to 1:00pm

BOP CANOE CLUB / BOP COAST ROWING CLUB, 372 WAIROA ROAD

Event Tides:

Saturday 10th April: Low Tide – 12:02pm 0.50m, High Tide – 18:22pm 1.80m

Sunday 11th April: Low Tide – 12:53pm 0.40m, High Tide – 19:07pm 1.80m

Note: The event is run on the Wairoa River which is very tidal due to its location

Event Description:The New Zealand Kayak Marathon Champs 2021, is hosted by the Bay of Plenty Canoe Club. It will be either, one, two, three or four laps of a 6.5km course on the Wairoa River with the start and finish point in the middle opposite the Bay of Plenty Canoe Club.

 *All race divisions require 3 entrants minimum, otherwise age groups will be combined as appropriate. 

* Note: you only pay one entry fee for K1 and K2 events

Divisions

K1 Male & Female – Tyros (U12) & Juniors (U14)6.5km, 1 Lap, 1 x portage, $20.00 entry fee per individual (Lifejackets Required) 
K1 Male & Female – Juniors (U16) 13km, 2 x Laps, 2 x portages, $20.00 entry fee per individual
K1 & K2 Male & Female – Juniors (U18)19.5km, 3 x Laps, 3 x portages, $20.00 entry fee per individual
K1 & K2 Male & Female – Open26km, 4 x Laps,4 x portages, $30.00 entry fee per individual
K1 & K2 Male & Female – Masters 35-44, 45-54, 55-64

65+ 

(need to be 2 or more in each age group, K2’s to compete in the youngest age group) 19.5km, 3 x Laps, 3 x portages, $30.00 entry fee per individual if not already entered in K1 event.

13km – 2 laps, no portages.

Multi Craft Division incl Multisport/ Surfski/ Oceanski Male & Female U18, Open, Masters 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65+

U14

19.5km, 3 x Laps, no portages, $30.00 entry fee per individual, entries permitted on the day.

6.5km, 1 lap, no portage, $10.00 entry fee per individual (lifejackets required, entries permitted on the day.

Age groups read U18 (18 and under) etc.  Age is calculated on your age at 31 December 2021.  If you turn 18 this year you are U18 (18 and under).  If you turn 19 this year you are Open.
