Introduction

Surfski Ocean Racing is a rapidly growing watersport in New Zealand and around the world. Many surfski ocean racing athletes have a background in flatwater kayaking and surf lifesaving.

The key national event is the "King of the Harbour" held in Auckland.  Traditionally held off Takapuna beach, this year the event had a twist, with competitors catching the ferry to Waiheke Island and racing back to the Viaduct Harbour.

The key international events are the World Series events held in a number of countries around the globe, of which King of the Harbour is one in the series.
