Official Development Programme
CRNZ recognises the importance that officials and officiating play in developing athletes, by ensuring all participants observe the spirit of competition. Officials are an important part of the sports volunteer base, and CRNZ requires dedicated and competent officials to fulfill various functions at all levels of competition.
To be able to achieve this CRNZ has identified that it needs to develop a world class officiating programme and set of resources to develop proficient officials.
This programme will provide a wide range of learning opportunities, ensuring that officiating experitise is matched to the level of competition, and therefore officials being be qualified at levels that match their experience and ability.
The CRNZ Official Development Programme encompasses two aspects:
- The Official Development Modules
- The Official On-going Development Programme
Official Development Modules The Officials Development Modules provides formal training and accreditation for new officials and existing officials. The Officials Development Modules will be administered and delivered by the CRNZ Sport Development Coordinator. A CRNZ appointed Official Assessor will carry out the delivery of formal training and the accreditation of trainee Officials.
Official On-going Development Programme The Official Development Programme keeps existing officials up to date via a registration scheme and through on-going training and development. Officials continue to improve themselves and their knowledge of the sport by keeping up to date with the latest rules and sport innovations. The CRNZ Sport Development Coordinator administers the On-going Development Programme.
