Covid-19 and the CRNZ Community

Clubs and Daily Paddling Environments

The following is intended as advice for clubs – committees can copy/paste the information into emails to members, and/or print notices to post around club facilities.

Protect yourself and others

If you are feeling unwell or display flu-like symptoms do not come to the club. Seek medical advice by calling Healthline on 0800 611 116.

Likewise, if you have recently returned from travelling overseas (and not completed 14 days self-isolation) or been in contact with anyone who has been in a hotspot zone do not attend the club.

Covid-19 advice to clubs

-Place signs around the club reminding members about the risks posed by COVID-19 and encourage good hygiene practice

-Place hand sanitisers around club and changing rooms and encourage people to use them

- Make sure facilities are maintained and cleaned to a high standard with quality cleaning agents, and consider cleaning them regularly

- Please ensure all boats are wiped and cleaned with disinfectant after usage.

General hygiene advice

- Cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or coughing/sneezing into your elbow rather than your hand.

- Wash (and then dry) your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

- Wash or sanitise your hands before eating or handling food, after using the toilet after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose or wiping children’s noses or touching public surfaces.

- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

- Practise social distancing and keep at least one metre away from people who are unwell.

Help vulnerable members

Our sport prides itself on its tight-knit and supportive community, so please reach out to those vulnerable club members who may require help in terms of meal preparation/delivery or grocery deliveries or any other assistance.

If you are willing to support, please let it be known to your respective club representatives.

We want to make sure everyone within the CRNZ community feels safe and valued during this period of uncertainty. We will continue to send out regular updates and continue to take advice from the NZ Government and Ministry of Health.

Covid-19 and the CRNZ Community

Our clubs are likely to be affected by new restrictions and protocols caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. It is important that clubs and members are aware of good practice in order to ensure a safe environment for all.
