Four years after winning gold in London, Lisa Carrington has done it again, defending her Olympic 200m K1 200m crown at the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon in Rio in style.

Lisa clocked 39.864secs in the final, with Poland's Marta Walczykiewicz (40.279) and Inna Osipenko-Rodomska (Azerbaijan) (40.401) unable to stay with the flying Kiwi over the last 100m of the race. It was Lisa's 14th consecutive major title over the distance, which includes three of her four world championships and a number of ICF World Cup series rounds.

She now has the chance to join the likes of New Zealand Olympic legends Sir Peter Snell and Ian Ferguson - winners of multiple golds at the same games - when she lines up in the K1 500m later today.
