NZ Marathon Champs, April 2012
Mana Kayak Racing Club hosted the 2012 NZ Kayak Marathon Championship on the Porirua Harbour on 15 and 16 April 2012. The Open category was won by locals Martyn McDowell and Marianne Archer. Age groups were well represented - Tess Allen from Mana and Jordan McLaren, Waitemata winning U14; Jessica Blair down from Karapiro and Toby Brooke of Wanganui winning U16; Ria Pollock from Arawa and Trent Shields for the U19s.
Masters categories covered just under half of the entrants and there was some great racing in here. Ben Bennett of Hawkes Bay and Keith Alderson from Arawa, in their 55+ category, were home 1st and 3rd respectively overall in the Masters section with Paul Randall splitting them to take the 35-44 section. Local paddler Sandy Winterton took line honours in the 45-54 category.
K2s were paddled on sunday.

Australian Marathon Champs, April 2011
The Championships ran over Easter, from Friday 22 April to Sunday 24 April. Winner Ben Fouhy of New Zealand covered the 29.7 km course in 2:08:33.17 to take the Open Men K1 title. He was followed by Michael Leverett (2:10:52.14) and David Cole (2:12:40.74). It was Ben's third attempt at the title, placing third in 2002 and second in 2005. 2011 NZ Marathon Champs, April 2011

The 2011 winners of the Open Mens K1 and Open Womens K1 were Ben Fouhy and Marianne Archer respectively, who will represent New Zealand at the World Marathon Champs in Singapore in this division along with Matt Blundell. Other top performers were also selected including Masters Richard Forbes, Paul Randall, Aaron Cox, Glen Muirhead, Matt Thomson, Jude Ellis, Ben Bennet and Keith Alderson, along with U23 paddlers Sam Newlands, William Wilkins, Jason Anderson, Ryan Welch and Kayla Imrie.

ICF World Marathon Championship, September 2010
Our Masters Men, Paul Bourgeois (35-39 age group) and Glenn Muirhead (40-44 age group) both posted respectable results in their age categories paddling the 21.5km marathon race. Bourgeois came in 12th with a time of 1:52:10 and Muirhead 9th with a time of 1:45:56.
Open competitors Marianne Archer and Brendan Keys also showed gutsy efforts with Archer posting a 2:24:29 time over the 25.6km distance and placing 15th, and Keys 2:26:27 over the 29.7km race placing 24th.
