Summary
The Classic combines the hostility of alpine weather conditions, the perils of a winding, rocky grade 2+ gorge and the rigour of a 67km event.
Description
The race starts at Mt White Bridge, accessed from State Highway 73 which runs between the West Coast and Canterbury, through Arthurs Pass. The Mt White Bridge and the start are signed posted, just past Lake Pearson travelling west or Bealey travelling east. 

There are various stages to the race and full details including maps and entry information can be found on the event website. 

This is a GOLD event in the NZ Paddler Series.  

Timing: 
7.00am - 8.15am Registration for ALL competitors – late arrivals may be refused entry 
8.30am Race Briefing – this is compulsory for all competitors to attend
9.00am Race start time 

The Course: 

Waimakariri River: Woodstock to Gorge Bridge. Grade 2+ braided river, gorge, rapids, bluffs, holes, trees and other river users. COMPETENCY IN THIS TYPE OF WATER IS ESSENTIAL. Whilst a Grade 2 certificate is not compulsory for the prologue race series, it is recommended. If you are not confident about your ability to paddle a Grade 2 river in your multisport/race kayak please do not enter this race. Race organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to or withdraw any competitor they deem unfit to safely complete the race. All other rules, conditions, safety gear and information on this leaflet will apply to the Prologue Series Races. The Main Event 


THERE ARE NO “ON THE DAY” ENTRIES. Entries must be submitted via our online entry form on the event website. 
Upon completion of your online entry, you will be sent a system generated confirmation. If you do not receive this, your entry has not been confirmed. Please contact the race organisers by email if you have any queries. 

If you are not confident about your ability to paddle a Grade 2 river in your multisport/race kayak please do not enter this race.
