New Zealand's longest paddle race - open to all paddle craft.

The Waikato 100 is New Zealand's longest paddle race open to all paddlers - kayakers, rowers, waka ama, SUP etc. Do the full 100km or choose 25km and 50km relay options.

Conceived by the Waikato Rowing Club, crews will race 100km from the Waikato Rowing Club to the Elbows Ski Club. It is expected to take crews 6-8 hours to navigate the bends and currents of the river with only their crew mates and the taniwha for company.
Crews will head north out of Hamilton, winding down through Ngaruawahia, before passing under Taupiri Mountain and heading on through to Huntly. Crews will race alongside State Highway 1 to Rangiriri which marks the 50km CHANGE OVER point for RELAY CREWS (or the finish for 50km crews), before continuing on to Meremere and then Mercer. The race then begins heading west, (no time for Pokeno icecreams!), past Tuakau and into the final stretch of the race. Crews will need to be on the look out for the numerous islands beginning to dot the river as they make their way to the Elbows Ski Club
