Performance Development Update

We acknowledge that CRNZ has not been very proactive in the HPAD space since Hamish Barton’s departure last year. Aaron joined us as Performance Development Manager three weeks ago and has been busy connecting with paddlers and coaches. While Aaron has a large focus on the CRNZ athlete development pathway, his role will have a more strategic focus than the previous HPAD role. He is currently spending his time working to understand how he can have the most positive impact on the performance of our paddlers and coaches.

We are pleased to announce that Paul Fidow and Mark Watson have been appointed as coaches for Asia Pacific Sprint Regatta and ICF Junior Worlds. Paul and Mark will be working with Jasper Bats and Fred Loyer on the Junior and Asia Pacific seat trial process. The Junior Seat Trial will be held at Karapiro from 15-17 March. The Asia Pacific seat trial will be held prior to the Asia Pacific Regatta in May.
We are delighted to reappoint Greg Adlam as manager for the Asia Pacific and Junior Worlds campaigns.

Aaron will be working with Paul, Mark and Greg, and the CRNZ coaches, to build on the work that has been done in the HPAD pathway and coach development areas. During this process, they will be working hard to get more information to paddlers and coaches including:

•Schedules of camps and development opportunities
•Pathway squad selections
• Campaigns and tours
