It was a good day at the office for the kiwi team at World Cup 1 in Hungary with two golds added to Scott Martlews silver the day before.

Caitlin Ryan approached her K1 500 final confidently but it was a tight race throughout the full 500m with the local girl,Hungarian Dora Bodonyi, giving Caitlin a good run for her money.  However Caitlin showed how strong she's become in this event finishing 1.2 seconds ahead to claim the gold.

2018 Kayla and Lisa WC1 gold 50.jpgAn hour later Lisa Carrington and Kayla Imrie kicked out with a stunning start and held a lead all the way in their K2 500 final to win, just under a second ahead of the Austrian crew Ana Roxana Lehaci and Viktoria Schwartz.

The day saw other success stories with Mia Friend Chung (C1 200 and 500), Kim Thompson, Britney Ford (K1 200), Kim Thompson, Britney Ford, Rebecca Cole and Danielle Watson (K4 500) progress to semis and the K4 of Lisa Carrington, Caitlin Ryan, Kayla Imrie and Aimee Fisher go straight through to their A final.

Plenty more racing on Sunday to be had for the kiwi team.
