It was a coolish start to the racing on the Porirua Harbour and a small but keen group of 35 paddlers lined up for the start.

Mana's Matt Archer took an early lead with Kurtis Imrie hot on his heels.  These two stuck fairly closely together for the entire race and it wasn't until the last lap that Kurtis decided to put his foot down, finishing 3 seconds ahead of Matt to win the Open Men's division.  In fairness, Matt was racing the Masters division and had some great support from his young kiddies from the bank!

The paddling was fairly spread out across the field with small groups of two or three formed throughout the race.  Thankfully the conditions remained calmer than forecast with just a slight chop around the north bend.

It was great to see a contingent of ski paddlers come down from Waimarama to take on the challenge and get their second Kayak Krazy race under their belts.

Thanks to Goodman Contractors for the amazing BBQ and all the Mana clubbies for the fabulous hot soup, baking and saussies.
