Junior/U23 World Championships starts today

Junior/U23 World Champs gets underway in Bulgaria

The ICF under-23 Sprint Kayaking World Championships will kick off overnight in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.The World Champs runs from Thursday night to Sunday night, NZ time. New Zealand will be represented by a strong team of young athletes, including 2018 ICF World Cup stars Aimee Fisher and Rebecca Cole.

Aimee Fisher will be defending the U23 K1 200m and K1 500m World titles she won last year. Rebecca Cole will race the K1 1000m, and team up with fellow NZ high performance squad member Danielle Watson in the K2 500m.

Quaid Thompson, the NZ Open Men’s K1 1000 champion, will line up in the K1 1000m, and the K4 500 combination of Max Brown, Ashton Reiser, Kurtis Imrie and Taris Harker will be gunning to improve on last year’s 9th place.
