High Performance Sport New Zealand – Funding Support

It is with great pleasure we can inform you that this morning High Performance Sport New Zealand has announced a very positive increase in investment for our High Performance programme.

For the last four years we have been funded to the value of $1.2m (2013, 2014, 2015) and a one-off top up this year that saw us receive $1.275m.

Today’s announcement will see the CRNZ High Performance programme funded to the value of $1.6m in 2017 and $1.75m in 2018.

The funding increase is a testament to the work both on and off the water by our athletes, volunteers and staff.

A special mention must go to Lisa Carrington – New Zealand’s first female to win two medals at one Olympic Games, her coach Gordon Walker and the very supportive team behind Lisa.

Over the last couple of years we have also been able to build a successful woman’s programme under the guidance of Rene Olsen.  The combination of the great work by our female paddlers and the establishment of a centralised men’s programme has resulted in increased confidence by HPSNZ that the CRNZ HP programme is heading in the right direction.

We would also like to thank our clubs and key volunteers for their support as we have created the athlete development pathway, this pathway and planning involved has helped in building the confidence and increased investment from High Performance Sport New Zealand.

We will now finalise the budgets for 2017 with the CRNZ Boards High Performance Subcommittee.

For further information or if you have any questions please feel free to contact CEO Mark Weatherall,  or (021) 132 4519.
