Canoe Racing NZ Assistant Coach Position – Sprint Kayaking

CRNZ is seeking an Assistant Coach to join our world-class coaching team.

We have recently restructured our performance program. As part of this restructure, we will merge our men’s and women’s programmes under the leadership of Gordon Walker, who has agreed to take on the newly-established Technical Director role. We aim to build a coaching team with a shared vision and approach to performance in kayaking. The new coach will work primarily with our men’s squad, but we intend that all CRNZ coaches will work together as a genuine team for the benefit of our athletes.

The key responsibilities of the Assistant Coach position are as follows:

  • Programme – Help to create a world-class kayaking programme in NZ;
  • Coaching – Deliver high quality training under the leadership of the Technical Director, and support athletes to achieve their (and CRNZ’s) performance goals;
  • Environment – Help create an environment that helps athletes work towards world-class performance;
  • Teamwork – work as part of an effective and unified CRNZ coaching team; and
  • Learning – Pursue excellence in coaching by actively learning in accordance with a professional development plan.

The position will be located at Lake Karapiro in Cambridge at CRNZ’s new High Performance Training Centre.

Applicants should submit a CV and covering letter to Tom Ashley (CRNZ CEO - tom.ashley@canoeracing.org.nz). Applications close on 12 April 2019 at 5pm NZT.
