Canoe Racing NZ Intern Coach Position – Sprint Kayaking

CRNZ is seeking an Intern Coach to join our world-class coaching team on a paid one- to two-year internship.

We have recently restructured our performance program. As part of this restructure, we will merge our men’s and women’s programs under the leadership of Gordon Walker, who has agreed to take on the newly-established Technical Director role. We aim to build a coaching team with a shared vision and approach to performance in kayaking.

The CRNZ Coach Internship aims to be a coaching university. The intern will have the opportunity to learn from world-class coaches and to be a part of the team building the “New Zealand system” of kayaking performance. Our intention is that the intern will move into the CRNZ coaching team at the end of the internship.

The new intern will work primarily with our men’s squad, but we intend that all CRNZ coaches will work together as a genuine team for the benefit of our athletes.

The key responsibilities of the Intern Coach position are as follows:
•Learning – Pursue excellence in coaching by actively learning under the direction of the Technical Director and CRNZ coaching team;
• Environment – Contribute to an environment that helps athletes work towards world-class performance; and
• Teamwork – Work as part of an effective and unified CRNZ team.

The position will be located at Lake Karapiro in Cambridge at CRNZ’s new High Performance Training Centre.

Applicants should submit a CV and covering letter to Tom Ashley (CRNZ CEO - Applications close on 19 April 2019 at 5pm NZT..
