Letter from Peter Dallimore, Chairman of the Board
It is with a great deal of disappointment that I inform you that Mark Weatherall has today resigned as chief executive officer of Canoe Racing New Zealand.
Mark has been with us for just over three years, during this time we have seen a considerable turnaround in the management of our sport. He has overseen a number of key achievements including; success on the world stage, development programs for athletes and coaches, and the employment of key coaching staff but most importantly and one that is difficult to measure, Mark has been instrumental in the shift, for the good of the culture of both the sport and organisation. Mark has endured some tough times during his tenure but has remained steadfast to developing and improving the culture and values of the sport for, which I personally commend him.
Mark remains fully committed to completing a number of projects and ensuring there is a smooth transition to a new CEO. With that in mind he will not finish with CRNZ until 10 March 2017.
Accordingly, there will be ample time to recognise Mark both formally and informally for his contribution. He has worked collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside the CRNZ community and I know they will join with me in thanking him for his efforts and wishing him well in his future endeavours.
The Board will review the current chief executive officer role description and look to begin the search for Mark’s replacement within the next few weeks.
Should you have any questions please feel free to contact either myself, email@example.com, or Mark firstname.lastname@example.org
