BOARD APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

The Canoe Racing NZ Board Appointment Panel has advised the reappointment of Maree Burnett to a further term as an 'appointed member' of the CRNZ Board effective 18 February 2012.  A brief bio for Maree is below.

The Panel awaits advice of nominations for the vacant 'elected member' position, which it is required to review.

Maree Burnett is currently the Secretary General of NZ Canoeing Federation and the Oceania Canoe Federation.  Maree was first appointed to the Canoe Racing NZ Board in 2009.  She currently Chairs the Canoe Racing NZ Board Audit and Risk Committee.

Maree brings considerable sport sector experience to the Board having been involved in operational and governance roles with canoe sports in NZ for over 10 years.  Maree also brings extensive international experience and networks to the Board having been a member of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Board since 2006.  She is currently an Arbitrator of the ICF Court of Arbitration, a Member of the ICF Commonwealth Commission, a Member of the ICF Women’s Commission, and a Member of the ICF Development Commission.

Additionally Maree holds positions as an Olympic Selector for Canoe Slalom NZ and an Executive Member of NZ Canoe Polo.
