Board Member Appointments
The Canoe Racing NZ Constitution makes provision for the appointment of directors in addition to the directors elected by the membership. In 2012 one appointed position is required to be filled. The appointments, made by a Board Appointments Panel, respond to a determination to have available the range of skills and experience required for effective governance of the organisation. The Board Appointments Panel will be convened shortly.
A person is sought who will bring all or some of the following:
- The ability to think strategically, i.e. able to see the ‘big picture’ and to drive the
organisation towards achievement of a challenging vision;
- Management or board-level experience in a successful company or organisation
undergoing rapid growth;
- A commercial perspective, i.e. strong macro financial experience and general business
- Governance experience.
The prospective Board member does not need to be an existing Canoe Racing NZ Member. The position is not paid but the return for involvement is an opportunity to ‘make a difference’ and to achieve great satisfaction by contributing to a successful and exciting sport with an international reputation for producing top-class athletes.
